Destination Nowhere

Destination Nowhere

I thought of a plan
for how life's supposed to be.
But when I tried to make it work,
it failed on me.

Aimlessly driving
they says life's a road.
Destination nowhere,
not a place to call home.

Pretty little faces
mixed with petty little fears.
You're drinking wine,
while I'm spilling tears.

My plans all crumbled
yours are still in the air.
"Reach for the stars"
hell, you're already there.

Success was my intention
now it's a misleading dream.
Wake me up from this slumber,
or a nightmare I will be.

Replace my thoughts with memories,
the ones where I remained...
content and blessed and lucky.
A freedom child unchained.

Now where am I going?
The map has turned to ash.
Cigarette tray overflowing.
Bloody knuckles stained at last.

Find me a route to walk on
where my feet won't feel the pain.
Of praying over something,
that was never mine to gain.
